Skip was born in Russell, Manitoba on September 15, 1947 to Ted and Ruth (nee Cockrill) Sanders. Skip attended school in Roblin, Manitoba. Among Skip's many friends were his childhood pals, Garth Jones and Garland Booker.

A prayer vigil will be held at the Nairn Chyz Funeral Home on August 27th at 7:00 pm. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at Ste. Claire Parish, San Clara, Mb on August 28 at 11:00 am with internment to follow.
